When's Earth Day?

Our family's contribution to saving the environment!

IKEA is challenging it's customers to go green and try to reduce the use of plastic bags this year by 50% from 70 million to 35 million. They will be charging 5 cents per plastic bag with all proceeds going to American Forests. They have also reduced the cost of their IKEA Blue Bags to 59 cents...pretty cheap! All my bargain shopping friends know that these bags are quite large! I was just today thinking about taking my new grocery bags when I shop at Target but the Blue Bags make WAY more sense! An excuse for a shopping trip....

Check it out:

Imagine if all stores did this with their plastic bags? 5 cents isn't a lot and I'm sure most people will still pay the nickel but it does make you stop and think of the cause. For that reason, maybe some shoppers will stop and think twice.

OR all stores could do it the BJ's way....no bags at all! Another use for the Blue Bag.

Thanks, Rem!

Those are way prettier than my ugly green stop n shop bags (that I turn inside out so I can take them to Whole Foods).
